October Fun {in an instagram}


Wow! We had a super fun and busy October! We kicked off the month with our first family vacation to the beach, complete with a few silly moments. We wrapped up the month with a fun Halloween and can't wait to get started on November!


Here’s a recap of our October adventures:


Beach Vacation Highlights:

  1. Arrival at the Beach: We closely monitored the weather due to Tropical Storm Karen, but thankfully, the storm broke up, leaving behind some impressive waves.

  2. Lucy's Beach Fun: Lucy loved the beach, especially playing in her blow-up pool – a big hit!

  3. Jacob and My Time Alone: We enjoyed some quiet time on the beach while Lucy napped.

  4. Jacob's Sand Adventures: Jacob absolutely LOVED playing in the sand!

  5. Beach Message: I had to commemorate our trip with a message written in the sand.

  6. Night Out: Gabe's parents joined us for a few days, allowing us to enjoy a fun night out.

  7. Sweet Lucy: Our sweet Lucy enjoying the beach.

  8. Sibling Love: Even after a week of non-stop togetherness, the kids still managed to love each other!

  9. Long Drive Home: We started our 8-hour drive home at 5 am. The kids stayed awake almost the entire time, only falling asleep 30 miles from our exit!

Back to Reality and More Fun:

  1. Say Cheese! A cute family photo.

  2. First PSL: Back to reality with my first PSL of the season!

  3. Tennessee/South Carolina Game: Gabe and I attended the Tennessee/South Carolina game to celebrate a friend's birthday.

  4. Giant Caterpillar: Came home to find a HUGE caterpillar on my window. I wish I could have seen the butterfly it became!

  5. Rolling Feast Nachos: Tried the chicken nachos from the Rolling Feast food truck on Tammy’s recommendation – they were amazing! Nashvillians, you must try them!

  6. Lucy's Glasses: Lucy got fitted for glasses and looks adorable. Now, if only we could get her to keep them on – we're failing miserably!

  7. Bacon Weave BLTs: Decided to weave bacon for BLTs, and it worked great!

  8. Jacob Running Fast: Jacob showing off his speed.

  9. Fall Cleaning & Well-Deserved Beer: After our trip, the weather dropped, prompting a weekend of fall cleaning. This beer was well-deserved, and my chipped nail polish showed my hard work!

  10. Chicken Ranch Pizza: Still my favorite dinner at the moment!

  11. Holiday Prep: Getting ready for the holidays with these red velvet whoopie pies!

  12. Jacob's Pumpkin Design: Jacob chose a Star Wars design for his pumpkin this year. His love for Star Wars makes me so happy!

  13. Stormtrooper & Stormtrooper Pumpkin: What's a stormtrooper pumpkin without the stormtrooper himself!

  14. Lucy as Tinker Bell: Lucy was Tinker Bell, but wasn't too keen on the wings or wand. Maybe next year!

  15. Handmade Costume: I made her costume myself – it was easy and she can use it for dress-up.

  16. Den Painting: I painted this picture for our den, and I think it turned out pretty good!

Homemade Basics: Flour Tortillas

Celebrating its one-month blogaversary, this blog has exceeded all expectations! With 1300 page views, a picture featured on FoodGawker, and a Facebook page boasting 50 likes, it's been an incredible journey. Blood Orange Margaritas

Flipping through social media yesterday, I was inundated with mouth-watering images of margaritas for National Margarita Day. Naturally, I had to have one! I wanted to try a new flavor, and when I stumbled upon this recipe from Confections of a Foodie Bride's blog, I knew it was the one. I've only had blood oranges a few times, but since they're in season and readily available, it was a no-brainer. They completely surpassed my expectations – so good, and her recipe made the perfect two margaritas. Next year, I'm definitely setting a calendar reminder for National Margarita Day!
